Pomona Solar Energy Co-operative solar panels in field

Harnessing the sun for Herefordshire power

Pomona Solar Co-operative is one of three solar co-operatives operating in Herefordshire - harnessing the power of the sun for the benefit of people in the county. They currently have 300kW of solar panels, generating emission-free electricity that is sold direct to local businesses, with any surplus being exported to the national grid. Each year these panels generate about 280,000 kWh, saving 125 tonnes CO2. The solar panel installation is owned by around 100 members. This model of community energy generation is looking to be replicated across the county.
