Garway Community Centre
- Passivhaus certified community centre in rural Garway opened in 2018
- Funded by a successful bid to the Big Lottery Fund in 2016
- The centre provides many functions for the village, including a large multi-functional hall, outreach medical centre, a cafe bar, part-time post office and events
- Architects Simmonds Mills worked closely on the design with a strong community group. The design of the new community centre reflects the characteristics of the former, much loved 80 year-old crinkly tin village hall
- The contractors were William Powell and Sons, Hereford. This was their first Passivhaus project and to achieve acceptance at tender stage, they attended a training course at the Passivhaus Academy
- The style of the building pays reference to the rural context of the old hall and agricultural buildings, while having a contemporary edge suited to a 21st century Passivhaus building
