Herefordshire Archive and Records Centre
- The UK's first archival storage building to be built to the Passivhaus standard, a rigorous standard that works by insulating the building to the most effective levels
- The award winning building is energy efficient, with running costs significantly less because of the leading edge Passivhaus design
- The building utilises a mixture of mechanical ventilation heat recovery (MVHR) and natural ventilation strategies depending on the season, and how the building is being used
- The nature of the simple, well-insulated building design provides a comfortable, consistent working environment with a constant supply of fresh air all year round
- Solar panels were also added to the building. These are estimated to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by a further 17 tonnes carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) per annum
