Case Study: Whitecross High School Eco-Fayre
Each year, Whitecross High School’s Eco-Club, Our Planet – Our Future, organises an event to inspire students to take positive action toward a more sustainable future and to make informed, eco-conscious choices in their daily lives whilst celebrates the power of youth activism, promoting a sense of hope and agency in shaping a better future for the planet.
Bringing together over 30 stalls and activities across themes including food, waste, nature, and travel, the event is designed to engage students in a wide range of environmental topics.
The eco-fayre showcases local action on climate issues, with examples ranging from community enterprises, charities and volunteer groups, to Council run projects such as the Greener Footprints initiative.
Across previous years attendees have participated in hands-on activities such as recycling demonstrations, willow hurdle-making and building eco-friendly pot noodles. Opportunities to plant seeds in pots, enjoy outdoor play and take part in educational presentations have also been a feature

Through this event, Whitecross High School’s Eco-Club fosters a deeper understanding of environmental challenges and solutions while empowering the next generation to become passionate advocates for positive change.
